Praxis: Bringing Theory to Life in NLP & Coaching

A Weekend Training that makes Coaching and NLP theory come to life!
Is there a theory behind NLP and Coaching? And if there is, how come it is so disconnected from the real world experience of working with human beings? In this training, you will get practical about some of the philosophical word salad that is shared in the NLP and Coaching fields. Everything you thought you were supposed to know, were afraid to ask about, and couldn’t see the point of. What are these ideas? Who invented them? How can they be useful in the real world? How do they fit with your own natural style of thinking about what you do? Why did the developers of coaching and NLP use them?
In a series of fun practical exercises, you’ll be able to both use and choose between models like:
- Pragmatism
- Functionalism
- Postmodernism
- Critical Realism
- Interpretivism
- Solution Focused Coaching
- GROW Coaching
- NLP
- Cognitive Behavioural Coaching
- Motivational Interviewing
- Information Processing Theory
- General Semantics
- Inductive Learning
Find out how different philosophical positions shape your results and your sense of satisfaction. There’s a reason for knowing not just what to do, but “why” it works.
Richard Bolstad has professional qualifications in NLP, Coaching, Archaeology, Education and Health Care. He has studied these “meta” philosophical positions in several different contexts in formal education. He noticed that in the NLP community these terms are sometimes used incorrectly or without any real understanding of how to embody them in your work. His aim is to show you how knowing the philosophical assumptions behind what you do can help you practice better in the real world, and enjoy what you are doing more.
